The Ukrainian Yastremska close to the title in Lyon

MADRID, 7 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Chinese tennis player Zhang Shuai came back (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) to the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska in the final of the tournament in Lyon (France), category 250 in the WTA and held on hard court, third title for the Asian and end to a week of strong emotions for his rival.

Yastremska was the protagonist with the flag of her country in each match, after avoiding the war and reaching the French tournament, in the midst of the military invasion of Russia. Despite her defeat this Sunday, the Ukrainian tennis player took her greatest tribute again at her farewell from the stands.

The Chinese, however, imposed a more accurate baseline game, in addition to already having more experience in WTA finals. However, in an even first set, Yastremska, 21, took the lead in the final with the only ‘break’ ball, in the sixth game.

After losing the first set of the week, Zhang came in on a break in the second set, but immediately rallied to 4-1. Already in the third, the Ukrainian began to suffer in the exchange and the Chinese lifted the title in Lyon with four games in a row.
