The Spanish Alejandro Martínez, sixth in the kilometer time trial of the European Championship

MADRID, 12 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The sprinter of the Spanish cycling team Alejandro Martínez fought for the medals this Thursday in the final of the kilometer time trial of the 2024 European Championship, finishing sixth on a day where Albert Torres and Sebastián Mora were tenth in the Madison test.

Martínez was once again among the best, advancing to the final in the morning session with the sixth fastest time, after stopping the clock at 1.00:454. In the fight for the medals, the last lap weighed on the Spaniard and he did not improve his time or sixth position. Meanwhile, Ekain Jiménez finished tenth with a time of 1.01:961.

In the men's Madison, Albert Torres and Sebastián Mora finished tenth in a highly contested race in which neither couple managed to catch the lap. The sprints marked the fight, without explosiveness due, in part, to the flu that the Menorcan cyclist suffered the week before the European Championship at the Apeldoorn velodrome (Netherlands).

Finally, the Spanish duo managed to add 4 points in a madison whose winners were the Germans Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt. Meanwhile, in the women's scratch, Laura Rodríguez was eleventh and Helena Casas was eliminated in 1/16 in the individual speed.
