The Santiago Bernabéu pays tribute to Paco Gento

MADRID, 23 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium paid tribute this Sunday, before the LaLiga Santander match against Elche, to the white legend Paco Gento, the only player in history with six European Cups and who died on Tuesday at the age of 88.

The 24 trophies won by ‘la Galerna del Cantábrico’ -6 European Cups, 12 League Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 2 Latin Cups, 2 Spanish Cups and 1 Small World Cup- and a shirt with his number ’11’ in the circle center presided over the tribute.

The public present at the stadium observed a respectful minute of silence while a string quartet joined in the tribute to the man who was honorary president of the white club and player for 18 seasons. After that, the players posed with Gento shirts behind the winners of the Cantabrian.
