The RFFM endorses the request for Rubiales’ resignation and hopes that it will be “a turning point”

MADRID, 29 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Football Federation of Madrid (RFFM) has unanimously agreed this Tuesday to “endorse the request” made by the Territorials that Luis Rubiales resign as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), hoping that “these events mean a turning point” in that institution.

After a meeting in extraordinary session, the Board of Directors of the RFFM has congratulated “with great pride” the world champion women’s team and has regretted that “such unpleasant and embarrassing events have tarnished a historic success.”

After showing in writing “its unconditional support” to the Carabanchelera striker Jenni Hermoso, the RFFM wanted to “endorse the petition made by the Commission of Territorial Presidents, asking Luis Rubiales to present his resignation as president of the RFEF”.

“In the event of not presenting said resignation, this Board of Directors proposes to activate all existing legal and federative instruments for its definitive separation from the RFEF,” the entity chaired by Paco Díez warned in its press release.

Similarly, he has urged “all sports institutions, social entities and people who are part of the world of football to find, among all, the path of harmony, dialogue, tolerance and respect that contribute to enhancing the achievements and values that represent Spanish football”.

Finally, the RFFM has highlighted “the need for the current situation generated by these events to represent a turning point and substantial changes in the procedures and operations of the RFEF”.
