Real Sociedad resumes the domestic competition this Sunday against Valencia on matchday 14 of LaLiga Santander, which, like last year, is leading the Basque team in its first section, while bottom, bottom, Getafe has a chance to get hooked on salvation against Cádiz.
Those of Imanol Alguacil once again show quality and sacrifice to be competing at the top with a squad that pulls from the quarry. The Basques lost the first match against Barça and everything else was to add 28 points and the lead, with one more game than Real Madrid (27) and Sevilla (27).
The good dynamic ‘txuri urdin’ already supposes 16 games in a row without losing and another important challenge for a Valencia that does not finish making a significant qualitative leap with José Bordalás. In the middle of the table, those from Bordalás have only won one victory in the last nine games, and Real and Anoeta represent another strong plate to measure the options of a Valencia that wants to return to European positions. Despite a good break to recharge the batteries, coach ‘che’ is having problems to form his defense while Alguacil will be able to count on Mikel Merino and Mikel Oyarzabal.
IMPORTANT DUELS BELOW
Sunday’s day will start at the bottom of the league, a Getafe that, after the dismissal of Míchel and the arrival of Quique Sánchez Flores, cannot get off the ground (6 points). The duel against Cádiz is a direct clash for the Azulón interests to squeeze the lower zone, with the Andalusians still close with 12.
With two weeks to prepare it, Quique has already had time to settle ideas and transfer his conviction to the team, that he does need to score urgently, beyond the more favorable feelings he has found in recent games, the draw against Granada or the victory against Espanyol.
For its part, Cádiz went to the break with three gold points against Athletic Club, but it is only one above the decline that Elche marks. The team from Elche has more of these favorable feelings than results, and this Sunday they will receive Real Betis in European positions with 21 points and high sights.
With a victory in nine games, Fran Escribá’s men need to find consistency and more in Martínez Valero. The Elche coach, with a highly reinforced squad, trusts to discuss the ball with a Betis who could benefit from the break, as he was on track for three consecutive defeats between the League and the Europa League.
Those of Manuel Pellegrini also left with the resentment of losing the derby against Sevilla, more reasons for a triumphant return that maintains the illusion in the noble zone. Guido Rodríguez is doubtful for the Betics and Rodri will be low.
