The RCT Barcelona-1899 revalidates the title in the Spanish Championship

RCT Barcelona-1899 revalidated the title in the 48th MAPFRE Spanish Championship of tennis by absolute female teams of 1st Category – Orange Cup after beating CT Valencia by a tight 3-2 in the final played this Saturday at the Real Murcia Club de Tennis 1919.

The Barcelona club increased its dominance in the record with 31 titles in the 48 editions disputed, while the Valencian is still unable to lift the trophy after 5 finals played.

The title was decided on the doubles point with the victory of Rebeka Masárová and the Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva over Angela Fita and the Venezuelan Andrea Gámiz by 7-5 7-6.

Selekhmeteva had opened the final with a comfortable victory for RCT Barcelona-1899 over Gámiz (6-3, 6-4), but Claudia Hoste equalized the series by going back to Rosa Vicens with a (4-6, 6-3, 6- 1). France’s Clohé Paquet put CT Valencia ahead in a solid match in which she defeated Masárová (6-3, 6-4), and Guiomar Maristany restored equality by beating Fita (6-3, 6-3).
