The United Kingdom has enjoyed practically absolute normality of internal borders in terms of coronavirus restrictions for more than a month, but not externally. The government continues to maintain a traffic light of safe destinations that imposes heavy penalties on those who return from countries marked in red, and that is why Premier League clubs have unanimously decided this afternoon not to allow players who have to travel to these destinations to leave in the next FIFA break.
To do so, players such as Mohammed Salah, from Liverpool, would have to do a ten-day quarantine on their return at a hotel chosen by the government. In the case of the reds, in addition, they would lose their star during two games. “The Premier League clubs have decided reluctantly, but unanimously, not to release players for international matches played in countries on the red list. This decision, which has the firm backing of the competition, will affect 60 players of 19 Premier League clubs that should have traveled to 26 countries on the red list during the September break, ”explained a statement issued during the afternoon.
