The Poliesportiu de Son Servera goes on to bear the name of Virginia Torrecilla

New source of pride for Virginia Torrecilla. The Atlético de Madrid footballer born in Mallorca has received a beautiful tribute from her land after it was unanimously approved that the Municipal Sports Center of Son Servera Es Pinaró happens to be called Virginia Torrecilla in his honor.

The event was held on Thursday amid great anticipation. Virginia and her family were present there, accompanied by the mayor Natalia Troya and sports authorities such as the president of the FFIB Miquel Bestard together with the board of directors responsible for Women’s Football, Chus Tamurejo, The General Director of Sports Carles Gonyalons, the president of the Mallorca Island Council Catalina Cladera.

The mayor has highlighted the brilliant career of this footballer who is a benchmark on the field for her talent but also outside, for the tough battle she has fought against cancer and that has made her an example to follow due to her history of overcoming.

Virginia Torrecilla was born in Cala Millor 27 years ago. He started in football at Badia de Cala Millor to later continue at Serverense and at the age of 14 he made his first debut in the First Division at UD Collerense. He has played for Barça, Montpellier and Atlético. Since October 2019 she is the captain of the Spanish team.
