The Japanese Kato and the German Puetz, mixed doubles champions at Roland Garros

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Japanese tennis player Miyu Kato and the German Tim Puetz became the first champions of the 2023 edition of Roland Garros, the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the season and which is played on clay, by winning the final of the doubles modality mixed.

The Asian and the German defeated the couple formed by the Canadian Bianca Andreescu and the New Zealander Michael Venus in an exciting final in three sets 4-6, 6-4 and 10/6 in the ‘supertie-break’ that decided the match .

The victory is an extra joy for Kato, who last Sunday saw how an involuntary ball hit a ball boy cost her disqualification along with the Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi, in their doubles match against the Spanish Sara Sorribes and the Czech Marie Bouzkova.
