The Fab Five got back together and went to a basketball game on campus for the first time since they first played together 30 years ago. On Monday, they watched the Wolverines defeat Ohio State 73–65.

Before the Fab Five seized college basketball by storm in the early 1990s, it was against NCAA rules. They made black socks and loose shorts famous on basketball fields all over the country.
The NCAA blamed the Wolverines for “one of the more egregious infractions to NCAA laws within the history of the organization.” They were not allowed to play in the playoffs for a year, lost their scholarships, and were put on probation.
The 1992 and 1993 Finals Four flags were taken down by Michigan, wrapped in plastic, and put behind a locked door on the bottom shelf inside a narrow cage.
They are now kept there with other items, like Civil War papers, at the school’s history library.
