The Extreme Barcelona return to celebrate their 15 years

Barcelona will celebrate the 15th anniversary of Extreme Barcelona, ​​an urban sports championship, with a new edition at the Parc del Fòrum, from September 15 to 17, of what is the largest event in southern Europe in this modality.

To commemorate the first edition of the event in Barcelona, ​​15 years ago, the organization is preparing a new competition that will be presented as a “unique opportunity” for athletes to test themselves before the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The championship will bring together sports such as skateboarding, BMX, street scootering, park scootering, breaking, climbing and 3×3 basketball, urban sports that will assault three main venues: Central Park, Street Plaza and the Urban Stage, which are already preparing to receive more than 500 athletes.

“A very special edition of Extreme Barcelona is coming up, the 15th anniversary. Barcelona City Council is very happy to have helped promote this sporting event, which is already a classic in the sporting calendar of the La Mercè festivities,” he said. the sports councilor of the Barcelona City Council, David Escudé.

The Extreme wants to bring closer and encourage the practice of these Olympic sports and for this reason, the creation of the last edition of EsportCat Extreme is joined by the support of the Catalan skating, cycling and dance sports federations. One more year, Extreme Barcelona will support the Barcelona skateboarding circuit, the Lliga Skate BCN organized by the CEEB and finally school actions during the month of May in some educational centers to introduce urban sports to the youngest.

The director of Extreme Barcelona, ​​Victor Casanovas, made a very positive assessment of the event’s 15-year history. “From Extreme Barcelona and the Barcelona City Council we have worked to promote the practice of these sports, betting on an event that has grown over the years, just like the sports that are currently within the Olympic framework,” he said. he.
