The DP World Tour returns 50 years later to the PGA Catalunya

MADRID, 15 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The DP World Tour returns 50 years later to the PGA Catalunya, which will be held from April 28 to May 1 at the ‘PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness Stadium Course’, to receive some of the best players from the old ‘European Tour’ , including five winners this season and six Ryder Cup players.

Thus, the Catalunya Championship will have 156 players who will fight for the 13th title of the season, and among them are the winners this year led by Pablo Larrazábal who won in South Africa, along with Ewan Ferguson, Ashun Wu, Ryan Fox and the Danish Nicholas Hojgaard.

Also participating will be Thomas Bjorn, Stephen Gallacher, Ross Fisher, Chris Wood, Thorbjorn Olesen and Bernd Wiesberger, Ryder Cup players and winners of some of the best tournaments on the DP World Tour.

It will be a week in which the most outstanding players of the season will participate, as well as the young promises that, through the Challenge Tour, have come to the DP World Tour to put their skills to the test in a demanding PGA Catalunya.

It was in 1972 when the old “European Tour” was institutionalized, and it started with the Spanish Open in Girona, in Pals, where a young Antonio Garrido won. In this edition, the Catalunya Championship will count towards the world ranking.
