The derby between Xerez CD and Xerez DFC came at a special moment, and if every derby is important, it came with Esteban Vigo's debut on the bench, who achieved promotion to the First Division for the first and only time in the 2008-09 season. The Xerez CD coach returned home in what is his fourth stage as coach of the Azulinos. The result did not accompany the dek 'Boquerón, who were surpassed by Xerez DFC.
Both teams received the support of their fans in the vicinity of the La Juventud stadium. The Xerez CD arrived as the leader, and so it continues, only now it is just one point behind its firm pursuer, the Xerez Deportivo, which thanks to the victory is on the heels of the Azulinos. José Pérez's men went for all and an early goal by Jacobo in the 7th minute put them ahead on the scoreboard. The attempts of the Xerez CD vanished without getting the equalizer.
The visiting team came out better, which little by little was gaining ground in their favor with some timid approach. Until at minute 7 I would not forgive Jacobo with a header after receiving a good cross from Marcelo's right. The combination between the two managed to overtake Xerez Deportivo on the scoreboard. Minutes later, Marcelo would try the same play again, but this time the ball did not find a striker.
Xerez CD was overtaken by their rival and it was not until the 18th minute that they starred in the first approach thanks to a Joselito cross for Lolo Garrido, but everything was left in an attempt. From there it was the locals who became strong, generating chances in front of goal, but without success. Even Rodri had a very close tie after a Carlos Calvo free-kick in the 28th minute. Those of Esteban Vigo grew looking for the equalizer, but between the lack of aim in some cases and the good work of Camacho defending the goal of Xerez DFC, the game went to rest with 0-1 on the scoreboard. Only Jacobo's goal rose in the 7th minute.
Both Vigo and Pérez kept their bets on the pitch for the second half and a good start for the visitors was repeated. Máyor warned in minute 48 'with the first approach of the second half. However, immediately afterwards an error by the visiting goalkeeper, Camacho, made Xerez Deportivo stagger. This left the team touched and, in the 54th minute, Carlos Calvo took the initiative with a great shot that ended with the ball hitting the crossbar. If it gets to go between the three suits it would have meant the equalized, since Camacho was already defeated.
The visitors held the score in favor despite the attempts of their rival, but they did not want to settle for 0-1. First Fran Ávila tried by putting a good cross that cleared the defense of Xerez CD and then Jacobo returned to the charge, sneaking into the rival area and shooting without regard, but Ares was attentive and took the ball. After these comings and goings, in 75 'Camacho dressed up as a hero, preventing with a great stop the ball fired by the newly entered Rares from crossing the goal line.
The problems accumulated to Esteban Vigo, which in 81 'was left with one less man. Juanito, when he had only been on the field for seven minutes, saw a direct red for aggression after putting his arm to his rival Adri in a fight for the ball. After the expulsion, Vigo tried to make changes that would allow him to have more dynamite upstairs, but the game was sentenced. This result does not move the qualifying table, but it does leave those of José Pérez with 27 points and only one of the leader, the Xerez CD of Esteban Vigo (28 points), who is forced not to fail the next day so as not to jeopardize the leadership that they have maintained throughout the season.
