The 2024 football calendar from the Big Ten Football Conference has been released.
The Trojans’ first Big Ten game will be at the Big House, which is a great place for a first game. This historic game will start a new era for USC football on September 21 when they go to Michigan.
The Wolverines have lost six times to the Trojans. The last time they played, the Trojans beat them 32–18 in the Rose Bowl in 2007.
If the Trojans win, they will play Wisconsin at home on September 28. The last time USC played the Badgers, they lost 21–23 in the Holiday Bowl in 2015.
The next week, on Oct. 5, USC goes to Minnesota for another road game. It’s been six games and the Trojans have won all six. Their most recent game was in 2011, and the Trojans won 19–17 at the Coliseum.
On October 12, USC plays a familiar foe at home: the Penn State Nittany Lions. Penn State has lost six times to USC.
The last time they beat them was 52–49 in 2017 in what is likely to be among the most famous Rose Bowl games ever.
The Trojans will then go back east to play Maryland for the first time on Oct. 19. On October 26, USC will host Rutgers, a new opponent, at the Coliseum to end the month.
On November 2, USC goes to Washington for a game they’ve already played. USC has a 51–30–4 record over Washington, if you don’t count Troy’s win in 2005, which was thrown out because of an NCAA rule.
It’s Nebraska’s game at the Coliseum on November 16. These are the last times USC played Nebraska. They beat them 45–42 during the Holiday Bowl in 2014.
The last game in Big Ten Conference play is on November 23 at the Rose Bowl, where USC will play its foe UCLA. USC has a 50–33–7 lead over UCLA in the all-time series, excluding Troy’s wins in 2004 and 2005, which were thrown out because of NCAA rules.
The 2024 season will end with the yearly Big Ten Football Championship Game. The top two teams in the conference standings during the end of the regular season will play, and the winner will win the Big Ten Championship.
With the additions for Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA, the Big Ten released the entire 2024 conference schedule. This gave everyone a good look at what the calendar will look like next year.
The 18-team conference will be the largest in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The new scheduling plan tries to find a balance between geography, history, and competition, which will be hard for a league that goes from Piscataway, New Jersey, to Los Angeles, California.
This is the first Big Ten game in the year, and it’s at home against Michigan State in Week 2. Soon after, there will be more games.
When the Bruins play Indiana on September 14, they will be the first new team to play in a Big Ten game.
A week later, USC goes on the road to play Michigan, who has won two Big Ten titles in a row. There are also games at Washington and Northwestern that week.
The early plan was chosen to make things easier for the schools on the West Coast. In the month of September, USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon all play just two Big Ten games that are not in the Pacific Time Zone. One, though, is a Huskies road trip to Rutgers, which is three time zones away.
This was the first time in more than a decade that the Big Ten did away with a regional system. After tiebreakers, the Big Ten Championship Game is going to be between the top two teams in the league standings.
In the new “Flex Protect XVIII model,” which came out at the beginning of October, 17 of the 18 member schools have at least one protected rivalry. Penn State is the sole squad whose program will change every week.
