Spanish table tennis closes its participation in the European Para Table Tennis Championships with three medals in doubles

The Spanish delegation present at the European Paralympic Table Tennis Championships that took place in the English town of Sheffield won a total of five medals, after the two bronzes from Álvaro Valera (class 6) and Eduardo Cuesta (class 11 ), a silver and two more bronzes were added in the doubles.

The couple formed by Miguel Ángel Toledo and Iker Sastre, current runner-up in the world, could not win the continental title in the MD4 class. The Spanish were the only ones to reach a final after
beat the Slovaks Martin Ludrovsky and Jan Riapos in an exciting match decided by 3-2 (8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9 and 12-10).

However, in the fight for gold, after another highly contested and highly tense match, Toledo and Sastre could not beat the Frenchmen Julien Michaud and Fabian Lamirault, who took the title 3-2 (10-12, 11- 7, 12-10, 9-11 and 11-6).

For their part, in the MD14 class, Alberto Seoane and Alejandro Díaz won a valuable bronze medal after losing in the semifinals against the Danes Peter Rosenmeir and Henrik Brammer by 3-0 (11-7, 11-7 and 12- 10). Same prize in the MD18 class for Ander Cepas and Jorge Cardona, who lost in the semifinals against the Ukrainians Lev Kats and Ivan Mai by 3-0 (11-7, 11-4 and 11-6).
