Spain meets Portugal again for its eighth European roller hockey crown

MADRID, 8 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women's roller hockey team beat France (11-1) to seal their ticket to their eighth consecutive final in a European Championship, in the heat of the Girona town of Olot, and thus meet their biggest rival, Portugal.

Spain did not fail against a French team that it had already decisively beaten 8-1 in its second match of the group stage. Ricard Muñoz's team will seek this Saturday (8:30 p.m.) the eighth European title in Spanish women's roller hockey and the seventh in a row against a Portugal that they have beaten in the last five finals.

The defending champion fulfilled her favoritism without emotion, taking her foot off the accelerator against a much-declined France. The Spanish exhibition ended 5-1 at halftime, with goals from Sara Roces (2), Anna Casarramona, Aimee Blackman and Marta Piquero.

Muñoz's team found the punch at the restart, somewhat elusive in previous games, and in a few minutes they doubled the lead. Aina Florenza (2), Marta González, Laura Puigdueta (2) and Victoria Porta completed the victory that left 15 minutes of Spanish possession, the most comfortable victory of the week.

The Portuguese team, which already lost to Spain in the opening match of the European Championship (5-1), beat Italy (1-4) earlier this Friday in the first semifinal.
