Spain draws against Norway and goes to the semifinals of the European Under-19 as the first group

Those of José Lana meet with Italy

MADRID, 10 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish U-19 men’s soccer team drew this Monday with Norway (0-0) and secured first place in Group B of the European Championship in the category, a position that brings them to Italy in the semifinals of the tournament.

José Lana’s men, who finished the first phase undefeated, had to score against Luís Pimenta’s Norwegian side to secure first place, and they did so with a goalless draw at the Ta’Qali National Stadium (Malta).

The Spaniards approached Magnus Rugland Ree’s goal as early as minute 8, when, after a combination between Assane, Dani Rodríguez and David Jiménez, Aleix Garrido tried his luck with a shot that went over the crossbar.

The Scandinavian team answered five minutes later with a high shot from Benjamin Faraas. With Spain moving the ball, Dani Rodríguez and David Jiménez continued to harass the Norwegian goalkeeper, but the score did not move at halftime.

At the restart, Iván Fresneda was about to open the goal on a double unfortunate occasion, just like Álex Valle, who a little later tried to beat a Ree who saved his shot from point-blank range.

José Lana’s team besieged the Norwegians in the final stretch, with Ilias Akhomach, who came on to replace Assane, attempting it with a powerful shot that did not surprise the Scandinavian goalkeeper. Simo and Gonzalo also failed to find a goal in two shots that preceded Ilias’s great chance in the 88th minute, with a left-footed shot from the edge that Ree blocked in two halves.
