Simon Yates wins the Clássica de Ordizia for the second time

MADRID, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The British cyclist Simon Yates, of the BikeExchange-Jayco, won this Monday in the Villafranca-Classic Test of Ordizia, disputed over a 155.6-kilometre route around the Gipuzkoa town, adding his second victory in the test.

Yates, winner of the 2016 edition, repeated his success thanks to an attack with more than ten kilometers to go, in the same place as six years ago, when climbing the last port. The Englishman did not find an answer and was able to win comfortably with a ten-second advantage over his teammate Dion Smith and the Spaniard Xavi Cañellas, from the Java Kiwi Atlántico, taking over from Murcia’s Luis León Sánchez.

“I had a long break and the training went very well so I was able to have a good race. The attack was exactly in the same place as when I won in 2016, so I knew the race very well and I chose my moment. This test It fits me very well, the duration of the climbs is very good for my characteristics, so I am sure that I will return”, Yates said in statements collected by his team’s website.
