Sete Benavides will receive the World Cup bronze in C-1 200 meters in 2014

MADRID, 3 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish canoeist Sete Benavides will receive the bronze medal in the C-1 200 meters modality at the 2014 Canoeing World Championships after the disqualification for doping of the Lithuanian Jevgenijus Suklinas.

“The International Federation has just informed me that I will receive my bronze medal from the 2014 World Championship. How bad it has been due to a positive doping test from the one who beat me. 9 years later, but it has arrived,” Benavides reported in his official profile of the social network ‘X’.

Two years earlier, at the London Olympic Games, the Balearic paddler had fought for the medal in the same event, finishing fourth, although Suliknas himself won silver and after his doping was confirmed, he was withdrawn, allowing the Spaniard to receive a bronze almost ten years later.
