Rodrigo: “We have the chance to put City back on the map”

MADRID, 15 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish midfielder of Manchester City Rodrigo Hernández hoped that the English team will be “on the map” again this Wednesday by winning the European Super Cup against Sevilla, an “important title” like each one that is at stake and special personally because he was able to win it with Atlético de Madrid.

“Nobody requires me to score goals. It’s something I can do and help the team. We have a strong team from set pieces and players like me who can score goals,” he said at the press conference prior to the game against Sevilla in Athens .

Rodrigo, author of the goal that gave City the Champions League, confessed that he wants to continue being decisive in the area. “It’s something I want to improve. At first you don’t have the responsibility when you put in, it makes you feel that you can do it and it’s a good area to grow,” he said, before talking about the team’s hunger.

“We are always hungry and we want to win every trophy we play. We were disappointed to lose to Arsenal in the Community Shield because I think we deserved to win but that’s football. The way we came back against Burnley shows the hunger in the team. Now we have the Super Cup and tomorrow I will ask my team to be the same as the last finals we played, at the same level. To show the same desire and the same hunger”, he stated.

“Winning four Premier League in a row or winning five or six titles in one season would be great. Every final is important; every title is important. This Super Cup is more special for me because it was my first trophy as a footballer. I know how difficult it is to win it. We go step by step. We have a chance to put City back on the map of Europe. That’s what we want,” he concluded.
