Raquel González: “This money is to be very happy”

MADRID, 16 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish athlete Raquel González affirmed that the silver won this Tuesday at the European Championships in Munich is to be “very happy” after the difficulties she has had to overcome this year to reach the event with guarantees.

“It was a very tough race, very exciting and at the same time spectacular because the circuit was full of people from home, cheering hard. And I think that closing the season like this -in which I had to battle more outside than inside the tracks – we have adapted the season and planned for it to come out like this,” he said.

“The reference was the Greek athlete,” said the Catalan walker, who was only surpassed by Antigoni Ntrismpioti. “She was my rival, she didn’t have to leave her and we went into battle. I told myself that she was going to return it to her but I couldn’t come back”, admitted the new European runner-up.

“But this silver is to be very happy. It has been very nice to be able to get the medal, but it has also been hard for my family, who have suffered a lot with me. It has been a very nice gift for them,” he said in statements to the Royal Spanish Federation of Athletics (RFEA).
