Pedrosa's two speeds

Adrià Pedrosa made his debut as a starter on Sunday at the Tartiere, excellent news for Espanyol after Gavà's left-back's weak previous season. The canterano occupied the Dídac Vilà square and once again demonstrated those two faces (or two speeds) of his game. Pedrosa was able to manufacture a play that was about to be a goal, thanks to an excellent pass from the side and a shot to the post from the Chinese forward. And, later, he caused the penalty with which RdT opened the scoring (0-1).

But there is also another Pedrosa, the one who must improve (both the technicians and the player himself are aware of this) when it is his turn to take shelter in the area or interact with his teammates. The Oviedo created danger on their side, in part because the winger missed 11 of the 30 passes he tried. A high number considering his position on the field and his defensive responsibility. More toned than last year, when none of the coaches finished trusting him, the player hopes to vindicate himself this course wherever he plays.

Because Pedrosa, 22, is a listed player with a market. With a contract at Espanyol until 2023, several clubs have asked about their situation and have tried to get the loan, but for the moment the Parakeet club has rejected all these proposals. “Nothing can ever be assured, we already know what the market is like,” they say from the footballer's environment, who nevertheless is aware of moving up this season with Espanyol and recovering his level.

Gavà's player has not yet turned two years since he made his debut with the first team and in this short period of time he has been able to feel the contradictions and emotions of football. In his first months as Rubi as coach, the left-back was a cannon, an Under-21 international and his name even appeared on the agenda of several clubs due to plays such as against Atlético de Madrid, with a driving of 87 meters. But last year, the side suffered with the worst Espanyol in history, also pointed out by a coach. “We want real guys, not pipiolos,” Pablo Machín said after the match against Osasuna, which could be resolved in the first half if the full-back had not missed an almost sung goal.

While waiting for the market to close, Pedrosa wants to go back to being the first, that of high speed. Last Sunday he took the first step. In the end, he was the player who unblocked the match.
