Pablo Crespo, qualified for Paris 2024 in the C1 1000

The International Canoeing Federation (ICF) confirmed this Tuesday the place of the Spanish paddler Pablo Crespo in the C1 1000 category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after the resignation of the Russian federation to said place, so the Spanish team will have up to 21 canoeists in the event that the French capital will host.

Thus, Pablo Crespo, who managed to win in the national selection, will be the paddler who represents Spain in the C1 1000 event, which had not had a qualifier for the Olympic event since David Cal did so in 2012.

“A verification that arrived on the morning of Tuesday, June 25 at the offices of the Royal Spanish Canoeing Federation and that certifies that Pablo Crespo will be the Spanish paddler who will fight for the medals in Paris in the C1 1000 meters test,” he reported. the RFEP.

Crespo will accompany a list of 21 Spanish canoeists who will participate in Paris 2024. In the women’s category, Estefanía Fernández and Begoña Lazkano will compete in the K1 500; Sara Ouzande, Estefanía Fernandez, Carolína García and Teresa Portela in K4 500; Sara Ouzande and Carolina García in K2 500; and Antía Jácome and María Corbera in C2 200 and C2 500.

For their part, Paco Cubelos and Adrián del Río will compete in K1 1000; Saúl Craviotto, Carlos Arévalo, Marcus Cooper and Rodrigo Germade in K4 500; Marcus Cooper and Adrián del Río, Carlos Arévalo and Rodrigo Germade in K2 500; Pablo Crespo in C1 1000; and Joan Antoni Moreno and Diego Domínguez in C2 500.

Meanwhile, in the men’s Olympic Slalom, Spain will face Pau Echaniz (K1), Miquel Travé (C1 and Kayak Cross) and Manu Ochoa (Kayak Cross). And in the women’s category, with Maialen Chourraut (K1 and Kayak Cross) and Miren Lazkano (C1 and Kayak Cross).
