Pablo Carreño and Albert Ramos surpass their premiere in Monte Carlo

MADRID, 11 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The Asturian Pablo Carreño and the Catalan Albert Ramos were the survivors this Monday of the ‘Armada’ in the Monte Carlo tournament, the third Masters 1,000 of the season and which is played on clay, while Jaume Munar and Bernabé Zapata were eliminated.

Carreño, seeded thirteenth in the Principality, had a difficult debut against the Argentine Sebastián Báez, qualified from the previous one and that forced him to play all three sets before falling 6-4, 4-6 and 6-2.

The one from Gijón had to fight for more than two hours in a match where, after losing the second set, he lost his first serve, although he was able to recover it immediately and no longer give any more concessions. His next rival will be the Kazakh Alexander Bublik.

For his part, Ramos did not have it easy against the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, against whom he needed two and a half hours to add his 250th victory in the ATP after winning three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. The Barcelonan will face the British Cameron Norrie, seventh favorite.

On the other hand, Jaume Munar and Bernabé Zapata were not so lucky, who were eliminated after having overcome the previous one. The Balearic tennis player lost in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) against the Argentine Federico Delbonis and the Valencian, in two (6-3, 6-4), against the Australian Alex de Miñaur.
