MADRID, 28 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Polish center of Gran Canaria, Oleg Balcerowski, was designated this Friday as the ‘Most Promising Player’ of the 2022-2023 season of the Eurocup, an award that he also won in the 2021 edition, becoming the second player to achieve it in twice, after the Valencia player Bojan Dubljevic.
Balcerowski, 22, has helped Gran Canaria reach the Eurocup final for the second time in history, averaging 8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks, playing less than 17 minutes per game. He ranks third in the competition in 2-point shooting percentage, at 72.9 percent, and has also made 40.9 of the 3-pointers attempted.
Balcerowski, born in Swidnica, Poland, joined the Gran Canaria youth academy in 2015, aged 14, and on December 3, 2017, the Pole became the youngest Gran Canaria player to make his first-team debut. This award is the third in a row for Gran Canaria, since to Balcerowski’s own award in 2021, we must add that of Senegalese Khalifa Diop last season, a sample of the good work of the Canarian team’s youth system.
