The Serbian Novak Djokovic, number 2 in the world, gave a set in its opening at the Australian Open against the German Jan-Lennard Struff, who beat him 7-6 (5), 6-2, 2-6 and 6- one.

The Belgrade tennis player, who achieved his 900th victory in an official match, knew how to suffer to lay the first stone on what could be his way to the eighth crown at Melbourne Park.

Djokovic, who reached the first 'major' of the year after proclaiming himself champion of the ATP Cup with Serbia in Sydney, will play the second round against the winner of the match that will face the Japanese on Tuesday and invited to the Tatsuma Ito tournament with the Indian Prajnesh Gunneswaran, player recovered from the previous phase.
