Nadal and Alcaraz, nominated for the 2020 ATP Awards

The ATP announced this Wednesday the list of nominees for the 2020 ATP Awards in all categories, a selection chosen by the tennis players themselves on the circuit. Rafa Nadal is once again nominated for him Stefan Edberg to Sportsmanship, an award that he has won three times: 2010, 2018 and 2019. In addition, the Spaniard has won at least once in each of the categories, Rookie (2003), Most Improved Player (2005) and Best Comeback (2013) . He also took home the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in 2011, and in 2019 he received the ATP Tour trophy as number one at the end of the year for the fifth time (2008, 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019).

Another Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz (17 years old) aspires to Rookie of the Year after achieving his first ATP victory in 2020 against his compatriot Albert Ramos at the ATP 250 in Rio de Janeiro. The Murcian won two ITF tournaments in Manacor, and three Challengers (Trieste, Barcelona and Alicante), and played in the Roland Garros qualifier. In addition, it went from position 492 in the ranking with which 2019 ended to 140. Lorenzo Musetti, Jurij Rodionov, Emil Ruusuvuori and Thiago Seyboth Wild are his rivals for the trophy.

Argentine Diego Schwartzman has received two recognitions, for Sportsmanship and Most Improved Player, while his coach, Juan Ignacio Chela, has been nominated by his teammates as Coach of the Year. Schwartzman will compete with Nadal, John Millman and Dominic Thiem in the first category, and with Ugo Humbert, Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner, in the second.

ATP award winners including fan favorite and humanitarian award winner Arthur Ashe, will be announced at the end of December. You can vote for favorite singles and doubles player until Friday, December 11.
