Munir: “I don’t need competition, I demand more of myself than anyone”

How are you doing in confinement?

It is an unprecedented circumstance and we try to handle it in the best way. You have to work at home and go day by day until everything is solved as soon as possible and we can continue competing and doing what we like.

How do you combat boredom?

Having so much time, I try to talk to a lot of people that I don't talk to often and to friends that I haven't talked with for a long time. Then I try to stay in shape by working at home, doing what I can, watching series, movies, reading books …

What are the guidelines that the club has set for you?

They have done a great job and have prepared a plan for each of us and we maintain daily contact to keep our physical fitness within the possibilities. We do not have a GPS vest that records the data, but they should still wear it in case someone leaves the house (laughs).

Do you think that this break can do a lot of damage to the physical training of Malaga and the rest of the teams?

He catches us in a phase of the season in which the physical condition was very good. We had a quarter of a championship left and we had many games. We do not know how long it will be, but I hope that the maintenance we do every day will prevent our performance from dropping and we will rest to return with more desire. When we return we will try to get in tune as quickly as possible.

LaLiga distributed tests to the clubs to perform them on their rosters. Have they already been tested or not yet?

Not for the moment. In our team we do not have any situation in which it is thought that any partner may have the virus.

Do you support the end of the League as it is or do you think that you have to play every game whenever you want?

I would like the competition to resume and we could all finish it, but I am not in favor of playing behind closed doors, without an audience. I am of the opinion that you should end the public, with the fans in the stands, or that it ends as it is. These are circumstances that we cannot predict, we have played 75 percent of the games and it would be fair to play them all.

If the competition goes beyond June 30 it can be a problem for clubs that have players who end their contract in June.

They are very complex situations, we would have to analyze everything, see what situations there may be for those cases of people who end up with a contract and it would even be more difficult to play in areas where it is very hot. Let's see how all that could be solved, but it is complicated. In order to play soccer, I would be delighted if you have to be playing games until the month of July.

It has had some ups and downs during the season. Have you missed having stronger competition?

When you fail you always see everything negative and make excuses. I have no excuse. I have made a mistake, but I think in the end I have competed very well and that is not because I have had more or less competition, which I think I have had. I have two great goalkeepers behind who make me demand the most. Regardless of that, I am very demanding of myself. Competition is good, but honestly, in my day to day, I don't need it. I demand more of myself than anyone and every time I make a mistake I am the one who eats the head the most and I try to correct the mistakes and work. I like to improve day by day and in the end I think they are situations that happen in football. But there it is, every time I have made a mistake I have gotten up the next day with more strength and I have continued to improve and work so that those mistakes do not happen again.

How have you seen the evolution of the goalkeepers of the subsidiary Gonzalo and Kellyan?

They are two boys who have improved a lot, I think they have a lot of projection and in the day to day we have managed between the three of us to have a great harmony, a great work group in which we demand a lot of ourselves. We try to improve day by day. I learn from them, they learn from me, we try to help each other a lot and I promise them a great future. If they continue along this path of work and the demand they have, they will have a good future at a professional level.

The team has changed a lot in these two months with Pellicer. What differences would you highlight between him and Victor?

They are different. In the end each one has his virtues and his way of working. The numbers are there, with Pellicer the team has been very comfortable, has understood their way of playing and that is reflected in the field. The team is competing very well, it has understood very well what the coach wants and we have adapted very well and very quickly both to the coach and the coach to us. That has been one of the keys. That comfort is seen in the field. He has understood the situation from which the team came and has tried to reinforce us. That freshness has been good enough for us. It has been reflected in the field, the team competes well and at this time we are one of the best Second teams in terms of numbers. It is a shame to have stopped now and also the match against Zaragoza. We were far superior in that game and we deserved so much more.

The staunchest optimists continue to look askance at sixth place. Is the playoff an unrealistic goal?

We must be aware of where we come from. We have had a very difficult year, with very difficult internal situations and that we are at this time of the season and that we have options to reach the playoff says a lot about the great work and the great effort that the group has made to compete and to be ambitious. If I say no, it would be a lie. We play soccer to win and whoever says no, lies. We are winners, we are natural competitors and we are going to compete and we are going to fight to enter those six positions.

The club has just renewed Hicham, who has always been very close to you.

It is great news for malaguismo and for him too. I am very happy for him because he is a boy who is working very well, he is trying hard, he is doing things very well, he is helping us a lot and he deserves it.

How is the relationship you have with the Receiver?

We have not had much treatment, but the one we have had has given us tranquility. In the end, what we want is for him to solve everything and to help us as much as possible to get out of the situation, to clarify it, to have transparency from him to us, which is the most important thing. It is the only thing we ask of you.

It was missing that all that institutional noise that had enveloped the club for a long time was appeased.

All that atmosphere that was with the sheik in the end affects. They are things that are there, in each game there was a slightly negative atmosphere and now people are seeing that institutional tranquility and that helps us only think about football.
