Mendilibar: “Going ahead allowed us to play calmer”

Jose Luis Mendilibar, coach of the Eibar, said this Sunday that the key to the first win of the season in Ipurua was that his team could get ahead against him Pomegranate, something that had not been achieved to date at home.

As he said, this allowed them “to play calmer in quotes, because a 1-0 does not tell you anything.” However, he thinks that this Sunday, with the state of the playing field, “if they score a goal to see how you raise it.”

Mendilibar also valued the “two good deeds” of Marko Dmitrovic in each one against one, they did not end in a goal due to their saves, and considered “in general” that his team had played “to win.”

He also praised the effort of his forward Kike Garcia, of which he said: “Today he came out tired, as he almost always does because he gives everything in the field. Today he hit the doll, but hey, it's Kike, that's what we ask of him, since sometimes the success is given and sometimes not ”.

The gunsmith technician pointed out that they already knew from the beginning that the match against Granada “was going to be complicated”, firstly because the rival “has been competing very well” and also because they knew that Ipurua “was going to be like this”, since it has been raining a long time and therefore it would “be soft”.

“We knew that we couldn't go wrong and make a mistake, because in a field like this it is more difficult. We have not conceded a goal and that is important, “he said. Mendilibar.

Regarding the performance of his midfielder Bryan Gil, author of the two goals, Mendilibar acknowledged that he had been pleasantly surprised by his performance, since at first they could think that with the state of Ipurua “he still drowns”, since it is not a field for his dribbles, feints or driving.

However, “they are his cleverness” in the first goal of rejection after the penalty “he has anticipated everyone” and in the second he has shown “a touch of quality, a cut and a shot”, which was worth Eibar to win the game .

“I have no more things to say about him, we already sensed it from the first day we were with him,” added Mendilibar.

Finally, the Biscayan coach stressed that winning at home will allow them to “get their heads” out of the proximity of the descent, although he pointed out that “this does not stop” and that if next weekend they do not score they will be back “in the same situation”.
