Medvedev wins his first title as number one in Los Cabos

MADRID, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has conquered the tournament in Los Cabos (Mexico), in the ATP 250 category and played on a hard court, after defeating the British Cameron Norrie (7-5, 6-0) in the final, a trophy that represents the first as number one in the world.

In capturing his first cap since last year’s US Open, Medvedev was able to snap a five-game final losing streak in a match in which he converted six of his 10 break points to claim victory in one hour and 23 minutes.

After making two breaks and losing his serve once, the key moment came at the end of the first set; the Russian had set point on his serve at 5-4 at 40-30, but eventually gave up his serve.

In the first point of the next game, he hurt himself trying to hit a ball and needed medical treatment. However, he won the game on return and started an eight game winning streak in a row to take the title.
