Masarova falls in the Guangzhou quarterfinals in a difficult match against Linette

MADRID, 21 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Rebeka Masarova has been eliminated this Thursday from the Guangzhou (China) tournament, in the WTA 250 category and which is played on a hard court, after a disputed duel (7-5, 7-6) against the Polish Magda Linette, head serial number 1.

The Spaniard, number 64 in the WTA, remained in the match at all times and, despite the favoritism of the Pole, ranked 27th, she had the balls to win both rounds, but was not able to materialize them, losing on the way fast.

In the first set, Masarova began with a break of serve, taking advantage of her great serve, which allowed her to achieve eleven aces. But she was not able to hold on to the advantage and in the tenth game, despite having three balls to close the set, she could not finish and the Pole did not fail, winning the next two games.

In the second set, both tennis players showed their great ability to serve, without giving up either of them. Linette only had one break ball that he did not take advantage of, taking the match to a tiebreaker. In that final ‘tie-break’, the Spaniard was able to close the second set in her favor, but she did not remain firm and her feelings worsened in a key moment in which the Pole was up to the task, closing the match in the first option he had.
