MADRID, 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) does not believe that his fourteenth position in the combined time of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is the “real” one in wet conditions, and hopes that they will soon understand “what is happening” to improve their performance in qualifying and in Sunday’s race.
“The day started quite well and in the morning we had a good rhythm, in the afternoon the session was a bit more complicated. I could not do the perfect lap, but even so, it seems that our level in the wet is not that high as it normally is, “he said in statements provided by his team.
In this sense, the one from Cervera considers that this Friday’s result is misleading. “I do not think our true position is 14th in rainy conditions, but we have to understand better what is happening. It was important to take advantage of today because the forecast for tomorrow and also for Sunday is still uncertain,” he stressed.
For his part, his teammate Pol Espargaró acknowledged that it has been a day “a little more difficult” than they expected. “The bike lacked some grip, but we have been able to make some improvements. When I fell it was probably when I felt better, I was reducing my time, so it was a shame, but we have learned some things from that,” he explained .
“In the end, we have to look to tomorrow and see what we can do. If it is dry, we will see what we can achieve because we did a pretty good test here. If it is still wet, it will give us a chance to improve our current feeling.”
