LaLiga points out the “falsehoods” of Florentino Pérez

The employers accuse the president of Real Madrid of distorting information and attacking the image of LaLiga and its clubs

MADRID, 11 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga responded forcefully this Saturday to “the serious statements riddled with falsehoods and lacking foundation” by the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, during the Ordinary General Assembly of the white club this Saturday.

The employers’ association was forced to “clarify” these statements, it noted in a long statement, because “multiple accusations were made that seriously undermine the image and reputation, not only of LaLiga, but also of its clubs, distorting the content of a selection.” of judicial resolutions, which are also not final and deliberately omitting to refer to dozens of resolutions issued against Real Madrid”.

The LaLiga note points out that it is the Madrid club that tries to “impose its particular interests to the detriment of the interest of the National League Championship and the rest of the clubs.” As an example, “the countless judicial proceedings that have been brought against LaLiga since 2016, with different Courts and Tribunals that have inadmissible or dismissed the appeals and demands and reproached Real Madrid for its abusive behavior.”

LaLiga also criticizes the “offense” towards the rest of the clubs of saying that the employers “cheat”, remembering that “the decisions are legitimately adopted by the affiliated clubs whose members are democratically elected and following a majority regime through secret ballot since 2014, for the sake of democracy”.

“If Real Madrid does not integrate any of these elective bodies, it is exclusively due to the fact that its current representatives or executives are not capable of obtaining the necessary support. In this regard, we should reflect on why an entity that considers itself in some way superior to the rest or that claims to have institutional responsibilities in European football does not get the Spanish clubs to grant it a minimum of confidence,” LaLiga points out.

“It is also significant that the adoption of assembly agreements with the only vote against Real Madrid has been a common trend for some time now. Agreements discussed only by Real Madrid and whose objective is to maximize the commercial value of the rights, especially audiovisual, as well as as the growth of competition at a global level,” he adds.

“Another example is the CVC Project, approved by the Extraordinary General Assembly of LaLiga in December 2021 with all the guarantees, and about which the president of Real Madrid alludes to a ruling relating to a previous August agreement that was surpassed, and omits to refer that the Provincial Court, as well as the Court of First Instance, have rejected the precautionary measures requested against the final agreement on up to three occasions,” he details.

“To which we must add the accusations regarding the recent agreements adopted by the LaLiga First Division Board, which modifies distribution criteria that comply with the provisions of Royal Decree Law 5/2015, of April 30, whose discrepancy is contrary, once again to the almost unanimous social will,” he adds.

The employers’ association thus insists on the obstacles of the club chaired by Florentino to the “growth of the competition”, preventing LaLiga from “competing on equal terms in the audiovisual market with its competitors, including the Super League.” Furthermore, he adds that the accusations regarding LaLiga’s alleged claims regarding the processing of the Sports Law are “false.”

“The statements regarding LaLiga’s lack of transparency regarding the information provided to Real Madrid for the approval of its annual LaLiga accounts and settlement of audiovisual rights are also flatly false. An approach that on several occasions has been disallowed by firm judicial resolutions, reaching to be considered such requests even as abusive,” he points out in another of his many points made.

LaLiga denounces that Florentino silenced in his speech “the degree of exhaustive information provided” by the employers’ association. “We do not know if Real Madrid has had the same degree of transparency and respect for the right to information with its affiliates in this Assembly. It accuses LaLiga of an alleged lack of transparency, however, Real Madrid never did the same with the RFEF and its former president, where Florentino Pérez was a member of its board of directors, as LaLiga and most of the clubs did,” he says.

“A lack of transparency that was evident in the improvised and secret announcement of the Super League, when it was supposed to be in the relevant bodies approving the new format of European competitions, or in the LaLiga bodies such as the Control Body,” he comments before referring to other “aspects of interest” mentioned by the president of Madrid.

“It is the current leaders and executives of Real Madrid who isolate and discriminate against LaLiga and harm its attempt to continuously grow and promote the competition, not attending meetings, prohibiting executives or players from participating in events and vetoing any initiative of the organization, instead of building and supporting for the benefit of all,” says LaLiga.

Furthermore, the employers’ association remembers that not only Madrid, FC Barcelona and Athletic Club are non-commercial sports clubs, and criticizes Florentino’s “evident demagoguery” when referring to the price of televised football and “joining the trend of renewal of the RFEF.” when “there has never been any criticism or reproach to the management of Mr. Rubiales, aligned with Real Madrid in certain interests and Florentino Pérez also personally belonging to the Board of Directors of the RFEF.”

In addition, LaLiga points to the omission of information in the mention of income from the Champions League and Florentino’s mention of the annual salary of the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, “which has not suffered an increase in accordance with the terms signed in the original 2019 contract.”
