Kepa lives a nightmare and Liverpool wins the League Cup

MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Chelsea’s Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga missed the penalty that gave Liverpool the League Cup title, this Sunday at Wembley, a shootout (10-11) for which he entered the field with the nightmare of being the protagonist for failing a launch and not by stopping them.

The final in London had it all, several goals disallowed and important actions by both goalkeepers. Mendy did indeed put in a scandalous final for Chelsea, but Thomas Tuchel once again opted to bring on the Spaniard in the last minute of extra time. So far the 0-0 miraculously arrived.

Mendy, stopping two by two, avoided Mané’s goals, while the ‘blues’ had their chances in strong counterattacks with Havertz and Mount. Matip managed to break the tie at the start of the second half, but it was annulled by Van Dijk’s offside that only the VAR could see. The African champion goalkeeper had to be great but in extra time it was Chelsea who saw two goals, by Havertz and Lukaku, disallowed for offside.

Kepa came in to agree with Tuchel’s statistics that for more penalties, but the shootout was perfect, no one missed, not even goalkeeper ‘red’ Kelleher. The Spanish goalkeeper sent his penalty into the clouds and Liverpool won their ninth League Cup, for the eight of a City that had won the previous four.
