Juan Carlos I celebrates his victory against Corinna at the Court of London and announces “new public appearances”

We already knew Corinna Larsen’s reaction and just a few hours later came the emeritus of Don Juan Carlos. As we have gathered, the British Court has archived the lawsuit that the German businesswoman had filed against the father of Felipe VI, in which she asked for 146 million euros for alleged harassment. The decision, which was announced this Friday, October 6, puts an end to a judicial process that lasted more than a year.

Doña Sofía’s husband has sent a statement to the France Presse agency in which he “celebrates the decision of the London court.” This decision will allow him “new public appearances”, as stated by Cadena COPE.

In another statement collected by Europa Pressthe monarch has welcomed that the English courts have “totally and conclusively rejected the claim brought” against him, concluding that the claim has no real prospect of success and therefore cannot and will not proceed to trial.”

Don Juan Carlos, who claims to be “very satisfied,” has emphasized that Judge Rowena Collins Rice described Larsen’s claim as “speculative” and “strange” in her ruling, noting that the plaintiff had not provided sufficient evidence to support their allegations, despite having initiated English judicial proceedings against Her Majesty almost three years ago.

“Her Majesty has always considered that the claim brought by the plaintiff lacks substance or merit. Her emphatic rejection of all harassment allegations raised by the plaintiff was also noted by the Court of Appeal in its December 2022 ruling, and the English courts have now dismissed and dismissed the claim in its entirety,” he noted.

Corinna’s reaction

Larsen, for her part, has been fired up after learning of the Court’s decision and has assured that she is “deeply disappointed” that the justice system has rejected her lawsuit against the former Head of the Spanish State. Furthermore, she has said: “Juan Carlos has deployed his entire arsenal to destroy me.”

These have been the first reactions after the High Court of England and Wales has filed the case and concluded that the emeritus cannot be tried in the United Kingdom for the aforementioned lawsuit by the princess.

The decision of the London Court was announced this Friday after last July the court heard the arguments of the defense of Juan Carlos I, in charge of the British firm Velitor Law. Larsen accused the former head of state of having harassed her directly, or through third parties, between 2012 and 2020, allegedly interfering with her mobile phone communications or discrediting her through publications in the press.

Judge Collins Rice has stated: “My main conclusion is that [este tribunal] lacks jurisdiction to hear this claim. This is because it has not been filed against the defendant in their country of domicile, as is their default right; and the plaintiff has not convinced me that she has strong and defensible arguments that her claim falls within an exception to that predetermined rule.”

The judicial decision has come just a few days after Don Juan Carlos’s participation in the Sanxenxo regattas, where he received a visit from his daughter, the Infanta Elenaand his sister, the Infanta Margaret, among other family members. His residence is set in Abu Dhabi.
