The sports director of Club Joventut Badalona, Jordi Martí, assured that it would be a “dream” for the people of the city and the ‘green and black’ fans to be able to reach the final of the Copa del Rey, with the Olímpic as the venue from the 16th to the 19th of February, and compete with “illusion” to lift the title.
“As sports director and being from Badalona, I remember seeing the last one here and cheering like crazy. It would be a dream for the people of Badalona to reach the final and compete, with enthusiasm,” he assured the media after the draw.
In this sense, he added that they hope to be able to compete “to the fullest”, starting with the quarterfinal matchup against Cazoo Baskonia. “It will be to go day by day, maintain the level, playing on Friday is not the best but since we have to go game by game, we are very excited,” he said.
“Of the four seeds, you don’t know who to choose, but by team profile we see a good tie. It brings back good memories of the last Cup,” he commented on the rival.
On the other hand, Real Madrid and Barça are on the other side of the table and there could be a Catalan derby final. “Lately we haven’t gone to different sides of the box and we dream of a Catalan final, I would sign it right now,” he said.
“We will go game by game. We are in the Cup, we are with the best and we have to beat Baskonia first, in which it will be a good game”, concluded the sports director of the ‘Penya’.
