Jesús Herrada finishes off the escape in La Vuelta

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Jesús Herrada (Cofidis) has prevailed this Friday through a breakaway in the seventh stage of La Vuelta a España, which has covered 190 kilometers between the Cantabrian town of Camargo and the Leonese town of Cistierna, while the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) retains the red jersey on a quiet day for the favourites.

The man from Cuenca managed to finish off a breakaway of five riders to win his second stage in La Vuelta Ciclista a España in a very tight finish that was decided on the finish line in which he overtook the Italian Samuele Battistella (Astana).

In the peloton, the favorites left the stage in the hands of the sprinter teams, who were unable to close the gap with the breakaway. Evenepoel will continue to lead, being the first cyclist to wear the leader’s jersey on consecutive days in this edition of La Vuelta.
