It cost Madrid each point in the League won more than € 4M

The informative site Betting-sports (www.apuestas-deportivas.es) has carried out a study comparing the points obtained by each team during the last LaLiga Santander season with their investment in transfers. In this way, they have been able to find out how much each point has cost the different clubs and if their investment corresponds to their position in the final ranking.

To get the result, they have divided the sum invested in transfers between the points obtained throughout the season. Players who were loaned or re-transferred after their purchase have not been taken into account.

Real Madrid, the team that cost the most each point: Last season, the Madrid team spent 350 million euros on transfers and obtained 87 points, so each point cost them more than 4 million euros. It is a very high price, but it was worth it, since they were proclaimed champions.

In second place is Atlético de Madrid, with an investment in transfers of 243.5 million euros and 70 points, each equivalent to 3.4 million euros. Despite this expense, the colchoneros had to settle for third place in LaLiga 2019/2020.

The podium is completed by Barcelona, with signings for 257 million euros, 82 points and an equivalence of 3.1 million euros per point. This expense helped them finish second last season.

Granada, the most efficient team

The Andalusian team achieved a total of 56 points with an investment in signings of only 8.75 million euros. That is, each point cost them 156,250 euros. They managed to reach seventh place in the final standings, prompting them to compete to enter the group stage of the 2020/2021 UEFA Europa League for the first time in their history.

Conversely, the team that obtained the worst returns on its investment was Espanyol. Each point cost the Catalan team 2.46 million euros. This disbursement could not prevent them from finishing last and descending.

Athletic's points, the most organic of the season

The Bilbao team, which this season did not invest in signing new players, obtained 51 points and finished in eleventh place in the table. Certainly an acceptable return compared to your zero investment. Nor did the play go bad for Real Valladolid, who only paid 83,000 euros for each point and finished the season in 13th place.
