Isidre Esteve: “We have taken a step forward to live our best stage”

MADRID, Jan. 8 (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish driver Isidre Esteve (Repsol Rally Team) was happy on Wednesday after signing his best stage so far in Dakar and placed 22nd in the general car, thanks to detecting “a small problem” in the previous day and thus giving “A step forward to increase speed.”

“Yesterday we detected a small technical problem in the car and the team did a great job during the night to solve it in the camp. Today the difference has been noticed a lot, we have taken a step forward to increase the speed and live our best stage”, He said in statements provided by his team.

After a long fourth stage, ending in Al-Ula, Esteve valued the work of his team and a smooth day and good pace aboard his prototype BV6 with the controls adapted on the steering wheel by Guidosimplex. “We are very happy with our performance in the toughest special we have in Saudi Arabia, with dust, stones, much fesh-fesh and sand,” he said.

“At the beginning we shot several cars almost by train because there was no place to overtake, but in the final part the track has opened and we have been able to pass several rivals. In addition, Txema has sailed very well in the most complicated areas, to round off a very positive day, “he added.

Esteve finished the 26th stage on Wednesday, 22nd in the general car as the third best Spanish behind Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso and remains sixth in the T1.2 category, reserved for modified 4×4 diesel SUVs. “We are fulfilling our initial objectives: to manage the race well, keep the mechanics and not make mistakes. We are going in the right direction,” he finished.
