Iñaki Williams’ two goals against Betis have a special dedication

Iñaki Williams ended the Athletic drought by signing the first two goals for the rojiblanco team against Betis in San Mamés. A couple of so many that had the same recipient. The Bilbao forward himself was in charge of making it clear through social networks.

“By and for you, Koldo. Goian bego!”, The oldest of the Williams posted on his twitter account hours after the victory against the Verdiblancos. The person referred to by the Athletic striker is Koldo Asua, responsible for more than a decade of Player Care in Lezama who passed away last week. The rojiblanco forward and Iker Muniain also showed a shirt with the legend “Koldo Asua we will never forget you, goian bego” in full celebration after the first goal against Betis.

The fact that Athletic did not have any gesture in San Mamés for the death of the one responsible for caring for both the players who arrived in Lezama and their families has raised a good number of criticisms in the rojiblanco environment. One of them comes from Mikel San José, a former lion who currently plays in the ranks of Amorebieta and who came to Athletic from his Navarran town in the youth stage.

“For what Koldo gave Athletic, he deserved recognition in San Mamés, not on twitter. Gure stylea”, indicated the tweet from San José in this regard. Gorka Guruzeta, another former rojiblanco currently in the ranks of Amorebieta, followed the same path as Iñaki Williams by dedicating, in his case, his goal against Ponferradina with the added message of “Go for you, Koldo.”

From Athletic, meanwhile, it is insisted that the club’s protocol does not contemplate the minute of silence in San Mamés, nor the black armband on the players’ shirts as it is not the death of a former player or a former executive. The Ibaigane entity, very close to the honors since the entry of the current board of directors, did dedicate its particular obituary to Koldo Asua on the club’s official website in addition to the tweet referred to by San José.
