As detailed by the club in a statement, The Riojan defender has renewed his contract for two seasons, until June 2022. Sáenz has accumulated six seasons at UD Logroñés, with which he has played 184 matches in two different stages, first between 2009 and 2013 and then since January 2019; in the last campaign he participated in 31 games, in which he accumulated more than 2,700 minutes, with four goals scored.

The player from La Rioja was one of the “pillars” of the promotion to Second, category in which he has experience, since after his departure from Logroño in 2013 he played in Racing de Santander, Alavés and Tenerife. “I am very grateful to the club for the confidence they have given me in a historic year for this club,” said the player, who feels “pride and responsibility” for being a member of the military in his home team.

With this renewal, Logroñés has 13 players on the roster as 12 had a contract for next season; in addition, it is pending the continuity of Jaime Sierra and Rubén Martínez, which he has also offered to renew.
