In the heat of the Mediterranean

Almería begins next Sunday at noon a series of matches that will have the great protagonist at the Mediterranean Games Stadium, hosting the Vega de Acá venue four of their next five matches after receiving Alavés (5-0) in the last match. In addition, in case of passing the Copa del Rey tie, José Gomes' team would also play the quarterfinals in their field (the draw for the semifinals is pure). Of course, the rojiblancos will not know until tomorrow Friday who is measured in the round of 16.

The first match of this series of matches is next Sunday (2:00 pm) in the Mediterranean. The Indálico team receives Sabadell with the aim of chaining their fourth consecutive triumph in an official match, which could mean placing themselves in direct promotion for the first time in the season in case of adding the three points and that Mallorca does not win on Saturday at Rayo. After welcoming the Catalan team, José Gomes's team will once again act as hosts, this time in the eighth of the Cup. Without knowing the rival yet, the match will be next Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. January will close with another match in the Mediterranean, on Saturday 30 (21:00) against Castellón.

The people of Almería will start February by paying a visit to Fuenlabrada that first weekend, although the schedule has not yet been set. Days before, Almería could have another Cup match, a hypothetical quarter-final that would be played in Vega de Acá. In case of dispute, it would be the second time that the UDA played them in its history, after reaching the semifinals in 2011. To close this marathon at home, the Almeria team will host Las Palmas the second weekend of February, without the schedule set yet. After a hesitant start at home, Almería has set course, being the fifth best host in the competition, with six wins and two tied in a dozen meetings.
