The effects of the pandemic are still being felt at Roland Garros. The prize pool of the Parisian Grand Slam has declined in 2021 for the second consecutive year. The cut is 10.53%, up to a total of 34,367,215 euros.
The cut has been made mainly from above. If last year Rafa Nadal took 1,600,000 euros as champion, 700,000 less than in 2019, this time Novak Djokovic will receive 1,400,000. The same goes for Barbora Krejcikova, winner of the women's box. The runners-up, Novak Djokovic and Navratilova took a check for 750,000 euros, 6.25% less than in the previous edition, Djokovic and Kenin themselves.
The quarterfinals, reached by Paula Badosa, Alejandro Davidovich and Pablo Carreño, are paid this time at 255,000 euros, a figure 10.05% lower than that of 2020. Only the financial prizes of the qualy and the first two rounds remain unchanged. Other Spaniards such as Vilella, Taberner, Ramos, Carla Suárez, Carballés, Feliciano López or Garbiñe Muguruza, who said goodbye to the first exchange, 60,000 euros were acquired, while those who fell in the second round, the case of Bautista, Pedro Martínez, Munar or Andújar, received 84,000.
