Grego Sierra (Murcia, 5-3-1992) has won hard to enjoy Second Division again, a category that he already enjoyed with Numancia in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. The center-back is part of the group of harlequin footballers who have earned the renewal. Chat with AS and urge the fans to enjoy this season. “The promotion has to give us energy and a plus to face the season, but everything happens and we have to be focused on having a great season. It will be exciting,” he said.
How is the start of the season going?
Illusive. Although we finished competing relatively recently, with the promotion playoffs, we were looking forward to seeing our teammates again and to training because an incredible season awaits us. We have returned to professional football and we must assess what we have done because there are many historic clubs that have not been able to do it and we are happy. There is a desire to start competing.
Are they still on the rise for the promotion or have they already turned the page?
We have turned the page because if it were not like that we would be wrong, but we have it in mind. It will be difficult to forget. Although you have to work a lot because football does not wait for anyone. The promotion has to give us energy and a plus to face the season, but everything happens and we have to be focused on having a great season. It will be exciting.
Is the only objective this course is salvation?
Of course. Saving is what any newly promoted team wants. And our great objective is to settle in Second. Now we have a preparation time to make a strong core again.
What feelings do you have after the first week of training?
Very good I wanted to see my colleagues again. I am happy to get back to the training routine.
The club has committed to renewing the majority of players who achieved promotion …
I think it was essential to have stability. We are a big family and keeping it will make things much easier for us. I think that if you have the possibility, it is positive to do so because it gives you continuity. In addition, as we already know each other, it will make us more united when there are difficult times.
You already know what it is to play in Segunda. What do you think are the main differences with Segunda B?
I don't think you have to do anything different, just know and know that it is a category where there are players of higher quality and mistakes are penalized more. The season is very long and we have to be very regular. But I don't think you have to do anything supernatural to face the season. Besides, if we are here it is because we have earned it ”.
Which stadium will you be especially excited to visit?
More than visiting a stadium I really want to see the Nova Creu Alta full. Hopefully people can return to the stadium and thus enjoy the category together. It will be a very beautiful year.
