Carlos del Cerro Grande, a 44-year-old referee from Madrid, led this Thursday the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal between Levante and Athletic Club at the Ciutat de València. The clash, as is known, ended with a Biscayan victory (1-2) after a extension which forced the 1-1 with which concluded the first 90 minutes of the game.
A few hours before the game, the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) had announced the appointments of the referees for the matches of the league day this coming weekend. And Del Cerro was assigned the Cadiz-Eibar which will be played this Saturday at the Ramón de Carranza from 18:30.
Given that the cup clash ended shortly before midnight on Thursday, Del Cerro will not have nor 48 hours of rest between the end of the Ciutat de València meeting and the start of the one between Cádiz and Eibar. A meeting, on Saturday, in which both people from Cádiz and Gipuzkoa they play a lot in light of its classification.
So far, Del Cerro has whistled 14 matches in LaLiga Santander 2020-21, a figure only surpassed by the Catalan Estrada Fernandez, who has already directed 15 games in the highest category this course.
