Frances Tiafoe and Dominic Thiem will play the Red Bull Bassline in Madrid

MADRID, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American tennis player Frances Tiafoe, number 12 in the world, and the Austrian Dominic Thiem, winner of the US Open 2020, will participate in the Red Bull Bassline, the one-day tournament in a ‘tie-break’ format that will be held for the first time in Spain on April 25 and within the framework of the Mutua Madrid Open.

This tournament is a new form of competition, in which the matches last between 10 and 25 minutes and there are no judges, since the same players are in charge of arbitrating the matches and resolving any dispute. Tiafoe and Thiem join the American Sebastian Korda, the Russian Andrey Rublev, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and the Spaniards Feliciano López and Martín Landaluce. After the loss of the Italian Matteo Berrettini, there is still a player to be confirmed.

The tournament, which also has the entertainment of a DJ even while the points are being disputed, will be held next Tuesday from 8:30 p.m. on the Arantxa Sánchez-Vicario court, the second largest capacity court in the Caja Mágica, headquarters of the Mutua Madrid Open.
