MADRID, 28 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) has stated this Friday that he and his team have “a long weekend ahead” to fix a problem with the DRS of their car during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, fourth round of the Championship World of Formula 1, where the Asturian has achieved sixth place for the Sunday race.

“I am satisfied with the sixth position on the grid on Sunday after we lost a bit of performance today due to a problem with the DRS,” Alonso said after qualifying in Baku, in statements provided by his team.

“We have a long weekend ahead of us and there are many opportunities with this new format, so I hope we can recover some positions and have a good performance tomorrow in the Sprint”, underlined the driver from Oviedo.

In addition, Alonso stressed that this Grand Prix on the urban circuit of the Azerbaijani capital “is very close between several teams, so we will have to try to be more consistent during the rest of the weekend.”

“It’s exciting to know that we’ll wake up tomorrow and jump straight into the car for another qualifying session,” he said ahead of Saturday. Not surprisingly, in Baku the Sprint Shootout will be released as a qualifying mode for the subsequent short race to the ‘sprint’.
