Exhausted and emotional Carmen Borrego, in her goodbye to María Teresa Campos: “Love overflowed us”

“Tired”, exhausted and broken. This is how Carmen Borrego arrived at the La Paz Funeral Home, in Tres Cantos, Madrid, this Wednesday, September 6, after a sleepless night after the death of her mother, María Teresa Campos. The great journalist and one of the most beloved faces on television is going to be cremated this morning in a ceremony in the strictest family privacy.

Carmen Borrego has approached the Madrid wake around 11:00 in the morning. She arrived very grateful for her expressions of affection and she announced that they still did not know when the ashes of María Teresa will be transferred to Malaga. Her first words have been of gratitude: “We have always known that they loved her very much, but yesterday her love overwhelmed us.” And she added: “She treated the press very well and the press has treated her very well.”

Carmen, her sister Terelu and the rest of the Campos family have received the warmth and affection of the public and the audience of the beloved journalist. Also the hug from her colleagues, from the world of television, culture and politics; the condolences of the King and Queen and Don Juan Carlos, from the British Isle of Wight. After the wave of affection, Borrego at night slipped: “She is resting, she deserved to rest. It will be very hard to live without her”, as the TVE microphones picked up.
