Espanyol rises to the lead and Zaragoza is lurking again

Triumph of the ‘parakeets’ 0-2 in Cartagonova, where there were racist insults to Omar El Hilali

RCD Espanyol rose to the top of LaLiga Hypermotion this Thursday thanks to their 0-2 victory over FC Cartagena, thus taking advantage of the defeat suffered by CD Leganés during matchday 9, while Real Zaragoza is once again stalking first place after winning on their visit to FC Andorra (0-1).

In Cartagonova, the visiting team took the lead with a goal from Pere Milla in the 20th minute, finishing a point-blank cross from Javi Puado from the right wing. Without gunpowder in their attacks, ‘Efesé’ accused him by conceding the 0-2 in stoppage time in the second half, the work of Martin Braithwaite in a counterattack guided by Puado himself.

The negative note of this match was its stoppage for several minutes ordered by the referee, after half an hour, due to the racist insults uttered from the stands of the stadium to Omar El Hilali, Moroccan right back of the visiting team.

With this result, the ‘parakeets’ reached 20 points to become leaders and left Cartagena at the bottom of the Second Division. In the fight for the top spot, Zaragoza returned to winning ways with a solitary goal from Víctor Mollejo in Andorra la Vieja. Baggage of 19 points for the hand team, now in second place.

On the other hand, SD Eibar beat CD Mirandés 1-3, including a double from Jon Bautista. And furthermore, Racing de Ferrol approached the playoff zone after beating SD Amorebieta 1-0 with a goal from Carlos Vicente in the first half.
