MADRID, 27 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Nearly 247,500 workers develop their professions in the sports sector, which represents an increase of 12.6 percent since 2019, before the pandemic, according to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA), as reported this Wednesday by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Sports and Culture now represent 4.6% of the total active population, and more than half of the hirings are permanent. Specifically, 57.2% of jobs linked to culture and 52.7% of those generated in the sports field.

Only 12.4% of contracts in the cultural sector are temporary, while the figure reaches 31.3% in the sports field.

The educational preparation of employees in both sectors stands out, since 70.5% of workers in the cultural sector have a higher degree or equivalent, as is the case with 49.3% of those hired in the sports area, exceeding in both cases the national average of the rest of the employment sectors.

Finally, it is worth noting that, taking into account the age groups, sports activity is consolidated as a great generator of youth employment, since 27.2% of those hired are under 25 years of age, while 26.2% % are between 25 and 34 years of age.
